Like all vehicles, you need to perform routine preventative maintenance on your Goldwing. This is the schedule for the 2001-2007 (likely through the current model year, but the Honda Service Manual that I bought late 2006, only covers 2001-2007 model years). These are listed in the order presented in the service and owners manuals.The items listed in italics, are listed with this warning: “Should be serviced by your Honda dealer, unless you have the proper tools and service data and are mechanically qualified. Refer to the official Honda Service Manual.”The items listed in bold, are listed with this warning: “In the interest of safety, we recommend these items be serviced only by your Honda dealer.”Know your limits of your abilities and tools before you attempt to perform any maintenance operation. As I write-up how to perform these operations, I will add a link to the instructional page.

• Fuel Line- Inspect and clean, adjust, lubricate or replace as necessary every 8,000 miles (12,800 km). These fuel lines are just above the air cleaner housing.
• Throttle Operation- Inspect and clean, adjust, lubricate or replace as necessaryevery 8,000 miles (12,800 km).
• Air Cleaner- Replace every 12,000 miles (19.200 km). If you have a K & N Air Filter, don’t skip the cleaning at this interval. *Service more frequently if the motorcycle is ridden in unusually wet or dusty areas.
• Crankcase breather- Clean every 4,000 miles (6,400 km). *Service more frequently if the motorcycle is ridden often at full throttle or in the rain.
• Spark Plugs- Replace every 16,000 miles (25,600 km).
• Valve Clearance- Inspect every 32,000 miles (51,200 km). *Service more frequently if noisy.
• Engine Oil- Replace every 8,000 miles (12,800 km).
• Engine Oil Filter- Replace every 8,000 miles (12,800 km).
• Radiator Coolant- Inspect and clean, adjust, lubricate or replace as necessary every 8,000 miles (12,800 km). Replace every 24,000 miles (38,400 km). *Replace every 2 years or at the indicated odometer interval, whichever comes. Replacement requires mechanical skill. Refer to the official Honda service manual.
• Cooling System- Inspect and clean, adjust, lubricate or replace as necessary every 8,000 miles (12,800 km).
• Secondary Air Supply System- Inspect and clean, adjust, lubricate or replace as necessary every 8,000 mile (12,800 km).
• Evaporative Emission Control System- Inspect and clean, adjust, lubricate or replace as necessary every 12,000 (19,200 km).
• Final Drive Oil- Inspect and clean, adjust, lubricate or replace as necessary every 8,000 miles (12,800 km). Replace every 24,000 miles (38.4 km).
• Brake Fluid- Inspect every 4,000 miles (6,400 km). Replace every 12,000 miles (19,200 km). *Replace every 2 years or at the indicated odometer interval, whichever comes. Replacement requires mechanical skill. Refer to the official Honda service manual.
• Brake Pad Wear- Inspect and clean, adjust, lubricate or replace as necessary every 4,000 miles (6,400 km).
• Brake System- Inspect and clean, adjust, lubricate or replace as necessary every 8,000 miles (12,800 km).
• Brake Light Switch- Inspect and clean, adjust, lubricate or replace as necessary every 8,000 miles (12,800 km).
• Headlight Aim- Inspect and clean, adjust, lubricate or replace as necessary every 8,000 miles (12,800 km).
• Clutch System- Inspect and clean, adjust, lubricate or replace as necessary every 8,000 miles (12,800 km).

• Suspension- Inspect and clean, adjust, lubricate or replace as necessary every 8,000 miles (12,800 km).
• Nuts, Bolts, and Adjusters- Inspect and clean, adjust, lubricate or replace as necessary every 8,000 miles (12,800 km).
• Wheels/ Tires- Inspect and clean, adjust, lubricate or replace as necessary every 8,000 miles (12,800 km).
• Steering Head Bearings-Inspect and clean, adjust, lubricate or replace as necessary every 8,000 miles (12,800 km).

As you can see there are many items to maintain. These operations are similar to what is done on your car or truck, but since you are dependent on only 2 wheels, it is important that you stay on top of these without skipping or ignoring anything.

4,000 Mile (6,400 km) Interval:

24,000 Mile (38,400 km) Interval:

32,000 Mile (51,200 km) Interval:
